The rally strap is the most recognisable leather construction in motorsport watchmaking — the large ventilation holes punched through the strap body were not decorative when the design originated. They reduced the leather's contact area against the skin during sustained high-temperature racing conditions, allowing air circulation and keeping the strap in place during the physical demands of endurance competition.
This rally strap uses the same pebble-grain full-grain calfskin as the Monza racing strap — cut from the same leather, the same surface character, the same quality of hide. The difference is purely constructional: where the Monza has the small, tight perforations of a circuit racing strap, the rally strap has the large, open holes of endurance and rally heritage — a more aggressive visual character that suits larger sport watches and bolder dial designs.
The orange contrast stitching references the high-visibility colour philosophy of professional motorsport equipment and connects the strap directly to the orange accents of the most celebrated sport chronographs of the 1970s. Full-grain calfskin throughout — the top layer of the hide, developing a genuine patina with wear that deepens the character of both the leather and the perforations over time.
